Retired Court Registrar M.S.M. Nazeer Passes Away; Laid to Rest According to Islamic Rites

M.S.M. Nazeer JP, a retired court registrar and social activist who had long contributed to social, artistic, literary and interethnic harmony initiatives in Trincomalee, has passed away. He was laid to rest according to Islamic rites.

Nazeer, who was from Moor Street in Trincomalee, retired after distinguished service as a registrar in several courts in Sri Lanka. Both during his career and after retirement, he took part in a wide range of activities supporting community welfare.

Those who knew him recall that he was particularly committed to fostering unity and harmony between the Tamil and Muslim communities in Trincomalee, maintaining close relationships with people of all communities across ethnic and religious differences.

Nazeer also participated in the activities of the Trincomalee Tamil People's Forum. He remained firmly committed to protecting good relations between Tamils and Muslims and emphasised that the two communities should live together in unity and mutual understanding.

He enthusiastically participated in artistic, literary, cultural and social events in Trincomalee, building friendships with people from diverse social backgrounds and using those relationships as bridges for community harmony.

Drawing on his experience, Nazeer also offered advice on matters relating to local government. A former municipal councillor has recalled the various suggestions Nazeer provided during the former councillor's time in office.

The passing of Nazeer, who maintained good relations with all communities and worked for social unity, is a great loss not only to his family and relatives but also to everyone who worked alongside him in community service.

Particularly at a time when harmony between the Tamil and Muslim communities needs to be strengthened, the loss of social activists such as Nazeer, who maintained close ties with both communities, has left a significant void in Trincomalee's public life.

Inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji'un.

I extend my deepest condolences to the family, relatives, friends and all those who worked alongside M.S.M. Nazeer in community service, who are grieving his passing.

May Almighty Allah forgive his sins and grant him an exalted place in Jannatul Firdaus. May He grant strength and patience to the family grieving his loss.

Ameen.
